I specialize in court interpreting and business interpreting services. My work as a legal interpreter includes working in courts of law, for police and the Public Prosecution Service. On the business market I work at board meetings, conventions, European Works Councils meetings and training courses for companies ranging from large multinationals to one-man businesses. I provide over the phone interpreting as well as in-person interpretation services.

I am registered as certified interpreter both in the Netherlands and in Finland in the language pair Finnish-Dutch. In the Netherlands I am registered in the National Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (RBTV) and in Finland in the National Register of Legal Interpreters (oikeustulkkirekisteri).

Prices

Type of job (in-person or over the phone interpreting), as well as the project’s scope and field determine the price for interpreting services. Prices for conference interpreting, interpreting at business meetings and video-remote interpreting are generally based on full-day (maximum of eight hours of service with up to 8 hours of actual interpretation hours) or half-day (maximum of 4 hours of service AM or PM that does not extend into the lunch period). Per hour rate is applied in specific cases to in-person interpreting with one hour minimum fee. After that, price is calculated for every half an hour. Additional costs will be charged for working at the weekends, after 6 PM or on bank holidays.

Besides the interpreting fee, to in-person interpreting also applies a reimbursement of travel expenses and other related expenses, including travel time, parking and in some cases airfare, lodging and meals (per diem). Particularly with regard to legal interpreting, also costs for preparatory work such as reading procedural documents, will often be charged.

Terms and Conditions

The General Terms and Conditions of Netherlands Association of Interpreters and Translators (NGTV) apply to all transactions and agreements.

Interpretation techniques

Simultaneous Interpreting

Interpreting the speaker’s words while the speaker is still speaking.

Consecutive Interpretation

The same message is said twice, once in the source language and then translated into the target language.

Video Remote Interpreting

Remote simultaneous interpreting. The parties use a videophone or web camera, and a television or computer screen.

Whispering Interpreting

Commonly used in one-on-one or small group settings, the interpreter speaks directly into the ear of the participants.

Telephone Interpreting

Consecutive interpretation where the interpreter, the party who is calling and a third party who is listening have a 3-way conference call.

Public Service Interpreting

In person interpreting that takes place between residents of a community. It is carried out in the context of the public services, where service users do not speak the majority language of the country.
